Rialto rounds out year with rockin’ double bill & return of Charlie Parr
A grueling day of holiday shopping calls for a nice cocktail and a show! Downtown Bozeman’s Rialto features the perfect happy hour spot and fantastic live entertainment for locals and visiting guests. Here’s a look at just a few of the upcoming happenings.
Local bands Panther Car and The Lovedarts team up for a duo show on Friday, December 13th with the music beginning at 9pm. Advance tickets to this all-ages show are $10. Doors at 8:30pm.
Panther Car comes in the shape of a traditional rock band yet sounds far from it. Their amorphous brand of pop music teeters between the radiant iridescence of psychedelia and the murky darkness of dreams. Every moment is a door that opens into a new room. Songs progress through tangential wormholes as in an ecstatic conversation; music that is equal parts meditation and celebration. They released an EP, Dithyramb, last year.
Also one of the region’s most finest rock outfits, The Lovedarts are a sex-charged rock n’ roll band from right here in Bozeman. The lineup is comprised of Jimi Kehoe of The Permians, Jack Dungan, Luke Scheeler and Jake Williams, the latter two from Julie’s Syrup. Their shows aim to cause a frenzy.
Area-favorite folk blues artist Charlie Parr is back in Bozeman on Wednesday, December 18th. Fellow folksters Dead Horses, a duo out of Milwaukee, will open the show at 8pm. Advance tickets to this all-ages show are $15. Doors at 7pm.
Parr returns to Bozeman on the heels of his fall album release. The eponymous collection features new songs and new studio versions of classics/audience favorites from throughout his career. The album is an honest and raw recording of Charlie reflecting on himself and his career up to this point. It’s a musical reckoning that came after a freak accident less than a year ago that forced him to relearn how to play guitar, causing him to take stock of the songs he’s written over his lifetime. Charlie Parr is a stunning folk record that will surely stand the test of time, just like the man himself.
