Wild Joe*s Coffee Spot in downtown Bozeman is a great place for a caffeine fix, but it also doubles as a live music venue for local artists and those passing through our not-so-little mountain town. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in October!
The coffeehouse will host Mandolin Jack on Friday, October 21st from 5–7pm. Hailing from London, England, the singer and mandolin player writes songs inspired by a lifetime’s love of roots music, including Americana, folk, country, blues, and bluegrass. English club Down By The Riverside noted after a recent performance, “With a voice like amber, his music tells tales of life from a guy who has lived it. One of the best mandolin players in the U.K. today, […] simply superb music that tells it straight.”
J.W. Teller will follow with a performance on Saturday, October 22nd from 5–7pm. The Asheville-by-way-of-Jackson, Mississippi singer/songwriter “has a low, breathy-sweet vocal quality that wraps around your consciousness like a warm wooly blanket, his guitar strumming through acoustic melodies that, on record, he pairs with the lightest of instrumental trimmings; the tube-pitched hum of harmonica, twangy dropping notes of slide guitar, occasional swells of keys, the found-sound creak of a porch door opening,” said Florida’s New World Brewery after a Teller performance.
Open Mic Night with Dane Thompsen is set for Saturday, October 29th from 5–7pm. This will be an evening of music performed by local musicians. Bring your guitar, sitar, zither, or theremin and take a turn up at the mic. Show Bozeman what you’re made of! Individual set lengths depend on the number of musicians who want to play. Sign-ups start at 4:30pm on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to bring your friends and support live music in Bozeman! A modest contribution to the kitty will be divided by participating musicians at the end of the night. The more people who come, the more money in the pot. If you have questions, contact Open Mic Night host Dane Thompsen at danethompsen0393@gmail.com.
