Family Promise, the nation’s leading nonprofit addressing family homelessness and early learning, has announced their “Night Without a Bed” fundraiser will take place from Saturday, October 15th at 5pm to Sunday, October 16th at 9am. This signature fundraiser will take place at Story Mill Park, 698 Bridger Drive.
During the overnight event, families, groups and individuals are invited to join Family Promise at Story Mill Park to give up their bed for one night, or set up a tent in their backyard, make a fort in the living room, or anywhere they don’t have a bed to sleep in. Tickets are $25 and include a dinner and breakfast meal, a movie on a giant inflatable screen, popcorn and snack bar, beverages and cool swag.
According to Family Promise Development Director, Robin Mayer, “Night Without a Bed, formerly known as Cardboard Box City, is a fundraiser that supports programs serving families experiencing homelessness. Between ticket sales and donations, our goal is to raise $25,000. Funds from Night Without a Bed are critical to our ability to continue to serve over 120 families at any given time.”
Studies show that one homeless individual costs society about $40,000 in terms of the impact on the health care system, social and government services. By just counting these benefits of preventing homelessness, Family Promise provides $5 million in benefits to society every year.
