Cast of local musicians join clarinetist Gregory Young for next 11th & Grant
MontanaPBS will premiere a brand-new episode of 11th & Grant with Eric Funk, its signature music series, on Thursday, February 20th. The episode will showcase Gregory Young & Friends at 7pm.
Young, principal clarinetist with the Montana Ballet Company and the Intermountain Opera orchestras, will share a diverse classical repertoire featuring works by Prokoviev and Mozart, as well as his originals.
A cast of renowned Montana musicians will accompany him on violin, viola, cello, percussion and piano. The exciting range of music is brought to life as Young performs with Carrie Krause, Mary Kothman, Mary Landeen, Julia Cory Slovarp, Stephen Versaevel, Eric Funk, Laurel Yost and Sue Makeever, many of whom teach at the Montana State University School of Music.
Young holds a doctoral degree in music from the University of Michigan, and he has performed and lectured on five continents. He developed the Bozeman Symphony Outreach Program and served for seven years as Director of the School of Music at Montana State University and eight years as Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. This past year his “Rocky Mountain Elk Suite” was premiered at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and his book “Undergraduate Research in Music” was published by Routledge Press.
Gregory Young & Friends premieres Thursday, February 20th at 7pm. An encore will air on Saturday, Feb. 22nd at 10pm.
