Montana State announced the broadcast teams for Bobcat football and men’s basketball recently, with three familiar faces returning, along with one newcomer.
Jason Alvine, who has worked Bobcat football broadcasts in a variety of capacities, will assume the role of play-by-play for the 2019 season, while Dan Davies, a 32-year veteran returns as a sideline reporter. Alvine replaces Jay Sanderson as the ‘voice of the Bobcats’ following Sanderson’s abrupt resignation in the middle of the men’s basketball season this past winter.
Alvine, the Director of Operations for Lady ‘Cat basketball, will also serve as play-by-play announcer for the women’s basketball team, in addition to hosting the Bobcat Insider television show and podcast and Cat Chat.
New to the broadcast lineup this fall will be Zach Mackey who will serve in the booth with Alvine as the football analyst, in addition to being the play-by-play announcer for Bobcat men’s basketball. Mackey comes to Bozeman from the University of Iowa, where he called Hawkeye baseball games, in addition to hosting pre-game and post-game coverage for Hawkeye football. Mackey also has experience working broadcasts of Iowa men’s and women’s basketball; he has also done broadcasting and content production for the Big10 Network.
Mackey will be joined on Bobcat basketball broadcasts by Brian Priebe who begins his sixth season working on the basketball crew.
“We’re pleased with the broadcast teams in place for next season, and of course we work alongside the athletics administration on every position,” said Quinn Pacini, general manager for Bobcat Sports Properties, which oversees all components of the athletics rights agreement with MSU and its broadcast operations. “Zach is incredibly talented, and following a nationwide search, it was clear he was the best match for the Bobcats. He’s excited about coming to Bozeman and working on both football and basketball and being a part of our culture here.”
