Big Sky caps another season w/ live music, return of Pond Skim

To mark the close of another fantastic season and to show appreciation for its passholders and guests, Big Sky Resort will host a FREE concert headlined by New Orleans ensemble Galactic on Saturday, March 6th. Featuring vocalist Erica Falls, the family friendly show begins at 4:30pm and will go on snow or shine.
Galactic come to Southwest Montana as part of their “Already Ready Already Tour” in support of its brand new studio album of the same name. On their first full-length release in three years, the renowned instrumental outfit takes a distinctly contemporary approach towards their own progressive sound, interpolating modern rhythms and electronic instrumentation within the house-shaking framework of the Crescent City’s funk pop n’ roll. Produced by the band’s Robert Mercurio and Ben Ellman, the new LP finds Galactic once again enlisting a diverse array of vocal collaborators to assist in their musical exploration, each of whom lend lyrical flavor and individualistic personality to the band’s multi-faceted sonic grooves.
The fantastic live music continues with the 13th Annual Big Sky Big Grass, set for April 11th through 14th. As in years past, the four-day music festival will feature an all-star lineup including Sam Bush Band, Travelin’ McCourys, Drew Emmitt Band, Jeff Austin, Jacob Jolliff Band, Lil Smokies, Grant Farm, Laney Lou & the Bird Dogs, Hawthorne Roots and Lone Mountain Trio. And mark your calendars for the 2019 Pond Skim on Saturday, April 20th. Watch skiers and riders make their best attempt to cross the pond on skis – and whether they’ll skim or swim! Join thousands of spectators to cheer on creatively costumed participants while soaking up some spring sunshine and celebrating another great ski season. Free to spectate.
