Join the Bozeman Film Society for the premiere of Montana-made feature film Mending the Line at 7pm on Thursday, June 8th at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture. This special screening and benefit for the Warriors & Quiet Waters Foundation kicks off at 6pm in the ballroom with a no-host social, raffles, and booths with WQW, Yellow Sally, Urbani Fisheries and RO Driftboats.
A portion of tickets and 100% of raffle proceeds benefit WQW and include G4 Waders from Simms – The Rivers Edge, women’s fly-fishing clothing from Yellow Sally, a Patagonia fishing pack from Angler’s West, and a pair of Sage Foundation fly-rod combos from Far Bank, and more. Many thanks to these generous donors.
John Cotler, a wounded veteran, returns to the States still carrying the demons of war, hauntingly disturbed by the everyday expectations of friendships and love interests. In Livingston, Montana, he meets Ike, a surly, headstrong fly-fisherman more than twice his age, and Lucy, a talented photographer turned librarian who reads aloud to veterans, both struggling in their own way. While getting treatment for his wounds, both physical and psychological, Colter wants only to re-enlist, to have something to die for. But the real challenge is finding something to live for.
Directed by Joshua Caldwell (Negative, Infamous, and television series Release), film critic Eddie Harrison of website Film Authority writes “… Mending the Line is a careful, thoughtful look at the effects of PTSD that also manages to make wider points about how we heal.”
Mending the Line stars Brian Cox (Succession), Sinqua Walls, Perry Mattfeld, Wes Studi and Patricia Heaton. The film also features numerous crew and extras from right here in Southwest Montana. The film’s screenwriter and producer is Bozeman resident Stephen Camelio, who follows up on his screenwriting feature debut, The Push. Rated R, Mending the Line runs 122 minutes.
A panel discussion follows with the Camelio, Warriors & Quiet Waters Foundation CEO Brian Gilman, and Fisheries Biologist Joe Urbani. Tickets range $12–$20 (plus fees) at door or available online until 11am June 8th. Raffle tickets are also available online if you’re unable to attend.
