BENEFIT CONCERT ANNOUNCED
Alive Again’s Annual Celebration of Hope presents “The Sounds of Bozeman” on Friday, November 11th from 7–9pm at Springhill Church in Bozeman. The evening showcases the richly talented and varied musicians that perform in the Gallatin Valley from rock to country and gospel to folk! Musicians include Kostas, a singer/songwriter named Nashville Songwriters’ Association’s Songwriter of the Year and also awarded a Grammy. His songs have been popularized by the Dixie Chicks, Patty Loveless, Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakam, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Jo Dee Messina, and countless others, and he has had numerous songs in Country Billboard’s Top 10, including “Timber, I’m Falling In Love,” which hit the number one spot.
Chris Cunningham, a nationally popular folk artist, formed Storyhill with John Hermanson in the 1990’s. They toured the U.S. for many years, selling over 60,000 albums and developing a strong national following. Their 2007 effort, Storyhill, was voted “Best Acoustic Ensemble CD of the Year” by the Indie Acoustic Music Project, and the duo were winners of the 2007 Kerrville New Folk Competition. Storyhill appeared on Garrison Keilor’s A Prairie Home Companion. Chris recently released solo album If You Knew All Along and operates Basecamp Recording Studio here in Bozeman, having now produced over 50 recording projects. John Floridis has released seven recordings, mixing bluesy folk-rock vocal tunes with adventurous solo acoustic guitar compositions. His most recent production was recorded in Montana PBS’ studios in Bozeman and is part of Eric Funk’s “Live From 11th and Grant” series, an Emmy winning production.
Tom Catmull plays his own unique brand of country, blues, folk, and rock, and is also included in Montana PBS’ “Live From 11th and Grant,” an Emmy winning musical series. Performing Songwriter Magazine commented in their publication,
“Tom Catmull straddles genres like a bow-legged cowboy on a mountain bike. Too mellow for a rocker, too enamored of the pedal steel guitar for a folk musician, and not nearly twangy enough to be called a country crooner… the ambiguity of his musical identity is probably exactly the point of his appeal.” Montana Manouche plays swinging instrumental music in the style of Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli, and the Hot Club of France, frequently termed “gypsy jazz.” This delightful, yet complex music was very popular in the 1930s—especially in Europe, and has enjoyed a worldwide resurgence in recent years. The musicians are long-time pickers and accomplished alums of many musical endeavors. Tickets are available at Cactus Records, at www.AALRM.org/, or at the door, Friday, November 11th from 7–9 pm at Springhill Church, 4769 W. Babcock, in Bozeman. Doors open at 6pm with a great variety of interesting items available in a silent auction. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and $25 for a family.
