Robbie-Walden
Your destination country bar set to play host to a Mixers Saloon Rodeo After Party each night following the Bozeman Stampede to be held Thursday, August 11th through Saturday, August 13th at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds.
Here’s a look at the music each evening! Rocky Mountain Pearls will kick things off, Thursday, August 11th at 9:30pm. The Pearls are a fun, crowd-pleasing country group from right here in Bozeman. They enjoy playing for their energetic following and everybody else, throughout the bar scene and for private events. They thrive off audience response to their powerful harmonies and music that makes everyone want to get up and dance. There is a $5 cover for this show.
Jason Boland and the Stragglers will take the stage, Friday, August 12th at 10:30pm. The Austin-based Red Dirt/Texas Country band is comprised of Jason Boland (lead vocals, guitar), Cody Angel (lead guitar, pedal steel, dobro), Brad Rice (drums), Grant Tracy (bass), and Nick Worley (fiddle). It’s admirable when a musician gets back to his roots, there’s no questioning that. But in a lot of ways, it’s even more admirable when an artist has no need to do that—having never lost touch with those roots in the first place. Jason Boland falls squarely into the latter category, having spent the better part of the last 15 years entrenching himself in the so-called “red dirt” of his native state of Oklahoma and adopted home in Texas, all the while spreading his musical branches to cover a remarkable amount of territory. “I’ve always thought it was important to keep one foot in tradition and the other pointed in the direction you want to go,” says Boland. “I didn’t invent the G chord, so I’m standing on the shoulders of the giants that did, and on the shoulders of some great songwriters that have come before me. I’m using an old stencil, but adding my own colors.”
Tickets to Jason Boland are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and are available online at bozemanstampede.com/. Robbie Walden Band will follow with a performance on Saturday, August 13th at 9:30pm. The intensity of singer/songwriter Robbie Walden is evident in everything he does, including making music blending Texas Red Dirt and Spaghetti Western with his native Pacific Northwest Rock and Country sounds. With influences such as Randy Rogers Band, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Gary Allen, Walden’s Music pleasantly surprises listeners with his distinctive, unexpected vocals and poetic, vintage outlaw songwriting that expresses his inner strength, dedication, witty sense of humor, and personal heartbreak. There is a $5 cover for this show. Mixers is home to $3 Jack Daniels and $3 Draft Beers all night long! Bozeman’s only dedicated country bar features great drink specials throughout the week and the largest dancefloor in Bozeman! If you get there before the band starts, there are four pool tables to keep you occupied, as well as a room full of casino machines. Mixers brings in bands for you to dance to, as well as a country DJ on Wednesadays and Saturdays (if no band is scheduled) to keep the country kickin’.
