From MSU News Service
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Montana State University, in partnership with the Belgrade Community Library, will host the presentation “Montana’s Ordinary and Extraordinary Fishes” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Belgrade Community Library. The event is free and open to the public.
Tom McMahon, a professor in the Department of Ecology in the College of Letters and Science at MSU, will discuss identification, conservation and little-known facts about fish species found in Montana.
McMahon has taught ichthyology and other fish ecology and management courses at MSU for the past 30 years. He and his graduate students have researched many different aspects of fish ecology in Montana, focusing on the conservation of native and recreationally important salmonids. He has studied fishes along the Pacific coast, the deserts of Arizona and Mexico, and in the forests of British Columbia and Oregon.
Seating is limited for this event and advance registration is encouraged. However, walk-ins are always welcome. For more information or to register, visit www.montana.edu/olli/.
The Belgrade Community Library Foundation and First Interstate Bank sponsor these collaborative free community programs.
