Following its sold-out run at Tinworks this summer, settle in for the live return of Nervous Theatre’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle at Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre. Performances will take place Friday and Saturday, October 7th and 8th at 7:30pm.
Bertolt Brecht’s intensely political and deeply human story exposes the destructive power of ownership, as well as the arbitrary nature of justice. The production asks, “How do we decide who is best fit to care for our communities?” Nervous Theatre redirects this question to our own community in a playful, bold, and thought-provoking production. Directed by Connor Berkompas, audiences have called Chalk Circle “outrageous” and “transformative.”
Nervous Theatre, a nomadic theatrical collective based in Bozeman, made their Ellen debut in 2020 with a critically acclaimed production of The Maids, followed by the original film-theatre hybrid Mommy’s Dead and They Buried Her in Moscow (winner of the Derek Award, Edinburgh Fringe ‘20). Other productions include the world premieres of Strange Mating Calls (Tinworks Art, ‘21) and an original adaptation of Samuel Beckett’s Texts for Nothing (The Boston Conservatory, ‘21).
Tickets for The Caucasian Chalk Circle are $22.25 for all seats. Find additional details and purchase tickets at www.TheEllenTheatre.org or call the box office at (406) 585-5885. To learn more about the presenting company, visit www.NervousTheatre.com. •
