Bird Dogs, local Dead tribute close out virtual ‘Music in the Mountains’ series
Filling the void of this summer’s canceled outdoor concert series, the Arts Council of Big Sky continues its virtual Music in the Mountains series this month featuring some of Southwest Montana’s best musicians. Each concert is broadcasted from the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center in Big Sky and available to stream for free through the Arts Council’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
Next up are local favorites Laney Lou & the Bird Dogs on Thursday, August 13th at 7pm. Having shared stages with Keb Mo’, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Corb Lund, Jeff Austin, Mark Chesnutt and more, their latest original Sweet Little Lies features singles “Carolina” and “Time or Tears.” They also recently released Live at the Filling Station, a new live compilation including a revamped version of fan favorite “Devil’s on My Side.” The Bird Dogs are Lena Schiffer (vocals, guitar & percussion), Matt Demarais (vocals, banjo & dobro), Ethan Demarais (bass), Brian Kassay (fiddle, mandolin & harmonica) and Josh Moore (vocals & guitar).
Closing out the virtual series is Dead Sky on Thursday, September 3rd. Bozeman’s own Grateful Dead tribute features members of Pinky & the Floyd, MOTH, Kelly Nicholson Band, The Hooligans, The Dead Yellers, SlomoJoe and more. The show begins streaming at 7pm.
Previous acts in the virtual Music in the Mountains summer concert series have included Tom Petty tribute The Waiting and progressive bluegrass outfit Kitchen Dwellers.
These concerts are possible thanks to series sponsor First Security Bank, with additional help from Hammond Property Management, American Bank, 3 Rivers, Big Sky Landscaping and Big Sky Resort Tax.
