Opera Montana is set to present the world premiere of A River Runs Through It this month in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Norman Maclean’s now-classic novella. Performances will take place September 18th through 27th. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7pm, with Sunday matinees to follow at 3pm. All will be held at Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre.
The story follows two brothers in early 20th century Montana as they grow up – and grow apart – against a backdrop of family, faith and fishing. A River Runs Through It is commissioned by Opera Montana with generous support from Carol Glenn & Sal Lalani, Drs. Dennis & Anne Wentz, and Ron Lerner, in loving memory of Jane Lerner.
Based on the novel by Norman Maclean, by kind permission of The University of Chicago Press, Jean Maclean Snyder and John N. Maclean. From Zach Redler, Kelley Rourke and Matt Foss, A River Runs Through It features a robust cast of principal artists with the help of a talented backstage creative team.
