Unveiling the first in its new performance series, Montana Chamber Music will showcase Bruce Adolphe with Angella Ahn & Friends on Friday, September 18th. The concert will be held at Reynolds Recital Hall on the Montana State University campus. Music begins at 7:30pm.
Known to millions as the “piano puzzler,” Adolphe is a composer of international renown whose works are frequently performed by major artists, including Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Fabio Luisi, Joshua Bell, Daniel Hope, Angel Blue, Susanna Phillips, Anthony McGill, the Brentano String Quartet, the Washington National Opera, the Metropolitan Opera Guild, the Human Rights Orchestra of Europe, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and over 60 orchestras worldwide.
He is the author of several books, including The Mind’s Ear: Exercises for Improving the Musical Imagination for Performers, Composers, and Listeners; Visions and Decisions: Imagination and Technique in Music Composition; and Dreaming and Thinking in Music: Exercises for Exploring Inspiration and Imagination in Musical Creativity.
Widely known for his “Piano Puzzler” segment on American Public Media’s Performance Today, Adolphe is the resident lecturer and director of family concerts for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York. His many pieces for family audiences include Tyrannosaurus Sue: A Cretaceous Concerto; Tough Turkey in the Big City; The King, the Cat, and the Fiddle; and Oceanophony.
Adolphe’s regional tour will include “An Intimate Evening” at Bozeman’s Aspevig Studio on Sept. 17th at 6:30pm and a rural concert at Butte’s St. John’s Episcopal Church on Sept. 19th at 2pm. Find ticketing information for these performances through the host website.
Admission to all Montana Chamber Music performances is $35 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at www.montanachambermusic.org.
