If you ever thought about getting into snowshoeing, this is a great introduction to the sport!
Check out the next Members-Only Garage Sale on Saturday, October 20th from 9am–3pm. During this daylong sale, REI Members are invited to come in for amazing deals on “as is” merchandise that has been used and returned. Items are priced to sell. Come in early for the best selection. Prepare for Bear Country on Wednesday, October 24th from 6–7:30pm. The Bozeman store offers monthly bear education classes throughout the year. Taught by one of REI’s nonprofit partners specializing in bear behavior, the goal is to reduce bear-human conflicts and injuries to both humans and bears. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the proper use of bear spray with inert canisters.
Special event “Protect Our Winters: Turn your Passion to Purpose” is set for Thursday, October 25th from 5–7pm. We ALL need winter! In 2017, REI provided grant funding to POW, an organization comprised of professional athletes, industry brands, and the outdoor community, in its work to quantify the impacts of a changing climate on the snow sports industry. Swing by the store to check out POW’s new virtual reality film, meet one of the POW professional athletes, and find out how you can turn YOUR passion to purpose! No registration necessary.
Get a handle on Cross-Country Skiing Basics, opening up a new month on Thursday, November 1st from 6–7:30pm. Free your heel and your mind will follow. Join REI for an evening of information and tips for getting into cross-country skiing. Discussed will be the fundamental differences between backcountry, telemarking, and touring ski styles. In addition, the event will cover proper clothing and info on where and how to get started in this fun winter activity.
Many REI classes and presentations are free and open to the public, but registration is required as space is limited. Reserve a spot now at www.rei.com/learn, where you can find more information about these and other upcoming courses and events.
