North Carolina duo Larry & Joe perform an eclectic set on February 12th.
Both men are versatile multi-instrumentalists and singer/songwriters on a mission to show that music has no borders. As a duo, they perform a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music on harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar, upright bass and whatever else they decide to throw in the van. The program they offer features a distinct blend of their musical inheritances and traditions as well as storytelling about the ways that music and social movements coalesce. Their latest full-length, Nuevo South Train, is available now.
Grab a seat for the Yellowstone Women’s Music Collective Songwriter Showcase on February 19th. The evening will feature performances by Marcedes Carroll, Lena Rich and Christy Hays.
The collective is a group founded in 2023, centered around the goal of connecting, supporting and inspiring women in music through collaboration, education and visibility in the community. With over 60 members, this group showcases incredible talent found within the Montana music scene.
Country artist Kenny Feidler follows on Thursday, February 20th.
Feidler’s music is dark and gritty, it’s western and rock n’ roll conjured up with thoughtful, honest songwriting. His musical influences are as wide and varied as the road he took to the stage. The cowboy songs from Chris LeDoux, Tom Russell and Ian Tyson shaped his songwriting and subjects. Feidler’s latest full length, Bloodshot, is available now.
Engaging solo acoustic artist Mike Beck delivers his own showcase on February 28th.
His mastery of the guitar works wonderfully to support his original songs, storytelling and wide array of the American songbook. From traditional cowboy songs, to Dylan, Haggard and Woody Guthrie, Beck has a deep appreciation of master songwriters. He is a regularly featured performer at the National Cowboy Poetry & Music Gathering, with several albums under his belt. His latest, Alta California, is available now.
Duo act Sarah Sample & Edie Carey open up a new month with a March 1st performance.
Touring in support of their new offering, Lantern in the Dark: Songs of Comfort & Lullabies, the seasoned singer/songwriters address the dual surreality of both giving life and losing it, and they navigate rarefied territory, yielding a collection of masterfully written, emotive originals and novel, openhearted approaches to songs from the canon. The album combines originals like their first-ever co-write “In My Arms,” Sample’s “Shine” and Carey’s “All the Ways You Comfort Me” with standards by the likes of The Beatles, Cyndi Lauper, Bob Dylan and James Taylor.
