Bozeman Film Premier and Discussion on April 12 in Honor of Earth Day – Montana State University, Student Union Building, Procrastinator Theatre, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Are you looking for ways to become more active and engaged in the fight against climate change? MSU’s Engaged Knowledge and Community class has chosen to pair with Bozeman Citizens’ Climate to do just that. The students are organizing the screening of Merchants of Doubt, a documentary explaining how corporations have used their power to manipulate public opinion and the legislative process, by inserting doubt into scientific evidence.
If you have any interest in the many environmental issues we are facing globally, this is a must see! MSU Student Nathan Roller voted in the Engaged Knowledge Community class to address climate change because…”climate change affects all beings on this planet equally and without discrimination. As we are currently, there will be no change and all of today’s problems will quickly fall to the next generation to create a solution in a much smaller time frame.”
With interviews of the investigative journalists who uncovered the misinformation campaigns, the scientists who provided cover, and conservative skeptics turned climate champions, Merchants of Doubt is a thought-provoking look into the myths and realities of climate change. Merchants of Doubt takes its audiences on a satirically comedic yet illuminating ride into the heart of conjuring American spin. A rare and unique examination of climate change from the director of Food, Inc., Merchants of Doubt provides much empirical evidence to support its claims. “Informative and infuriating” – A.O. Scott, The New York Times
The film will be followed by opportunities (traditional and a photo booth!) to raise your voice as a citizen and contact our federal delegation calling for bipartisan, effective, and economically viable climate policy by Kristen Walser, State Coordinator for Citizens’ Climate.
Doors open at 5:00 pm with an opportunity to speak with representatives from climate change organizations in Montana. The screening begins at 5:30 pm, and is followed by ways you can become involved in the fight against climate change. This is a free and open program for all to enjoy.
