– Beginning April 7, Red Tractor Pizza (RTP) will be hosting “Bluegrass Thursdays,” a weekly event featuring live music by local bluegrass band the Bridger Creek Boys. The Bozeman-based band is looking forward to having a weekly music gig that they can share with the whole community.
“The last 3 years we’ve been playing Mondays at Colonel Blacks, which isn’t a family-friendly environment, so we’re excited to offer weekly gigs to the whole community – not just the bar crowd,” said Matt Broughton, who plays fiddle and mandolin for the Bridger Creek Boys. Broughton is also the owner of 3 Fiddles Farm, which uses sustainable practices and supplies Red Tractor Pizza with organic produce.
Joining Broughton in the band are Jim Dungan on guitar, Scott Stebbins on bass, and Andrew Schauer of the recently defunct Flatt Cheddar on banjo. Founded 11 years ago, The Bridger Creek Boys straddle the line between traditional bluegrass and progressive, Rocky Mountain newgrass.
Playing a mix of originals and covers, the band draws inspiration from traditional artists such as Doc Boggs and Bill Monroe, as well as more contemporary artists like the Grateful Dead, Steve Earle, and The Band. With somewhere between 1,300 and 1,400 shows under their belt, the group’s performances vary from dance parties to more artistic shows. “We go where people want to go with the music,” Broughton said.
That means Red Tractor’s customers will help determine the vibe every Thursday night. RTP owner Adam Paccione encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the free tunes in the restaurant’s newly expanded space, which has nearly quadrupled capacity.
“There’s now plenty of room to dance and swing your partner,” Paccione said. “It’s a chill, relaxed atmosphere with great food and service. You can let your the kids play in the ‘kids corral’ while you sit in a tractor chair and enjoy the tunes and the food.”
Bluegrass Thursdays is an added bonus for music and pizza lovers, and the weekly event sticks to Red Tractor’s sustainable, community-minded outlook.
“Live music supports the Red Tractor Pizza mission by bringing the community together,” Paccione said.
“Anyone who walks through the door is a friend.”
