The Bozeman Doc Series is proud to present the Montana premiere of Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise on Thursday, March 31st, at 7pm at the Emerson Center. The first film about the incomparable writer, poet, performer and activist, And Still I Rise world-premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2016 to widespread critical acclaim.
From her upbringing in the Depression-era South to her swinging soirees with Malcolm X
in Ghana to her inaugural speech for President Bill Clinton, And Still I Rise weaves together the threads of Maya Angelou’s exuberant and prolific life. As a poet and writer, she inspired generations with lyrical modern thought that pushed boundaries and inspired us to imagine our history in ways we never had before. Skillfully crafted with heart and ease, And Still I Rise reflects the vibrant spirit of an American legend who was determined to stay true to her beliefs and to live her life to the fullest.
