Montana State University and the Martin Luther King Day Organizing Committee will sponsor a PechaKucha-style MLK Day celebration at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Emerson Cultural Center’s Crawford Theater. The event is free and open to the public.
The new PechaKucha format for the annual celebration will feature multiple speakers from the Bozeman community, rather than a single lecturer, presenting inspirational stories of the civil rights movement, sharing creative perspectives of social justice issues and expressing what MLK Day means to them personally. The speakers will deliver short presentations on various aspects of MLK’s legacy, history and present-day implications.
PechaKucha is a presentation format that involves showing 20 digital images that advance automatically every 20 seconds while the presenter speaks about an idea, story, initiative or project for six minutes and 40 seconds.
Sponsors of the event include the MSU Diversity Awareness Office, MSU Leadership Institute, Bozeman Martin Luther King Day Organizing Committee, the Bozeman Public Library, theHuman Resource Development Council and the PechaKucha Bozeman Committee.
