What if for one day, everything stopped, and we all just listened to the music? The people of the greater Bozeman area are invited to join worldwide participants for Play Music on the Porch Day on Saturday, August 26th from 10am–10pm.
This is an international day of music. In just four years, it has grown from a few musicians playing in Highland Park, California, to an event for musical artists worldwide. In 2016, thousands of musicians from at least 17 countries participated, including Mongolia, Algeria, and Iran. This year’s event promises to be even bigger. Join in and play along with musicians from around the world!
“I love that people from around the world who participate in Play Music on the Porch Day not only come together through their common love of music, but also celebrate the diversity each person and culture brings to the table,” said Tampa Enoch-Reese, a musician from Mabane, NC.
Bozemanites: participation is easy! Just go outside and play music. Participate alone or invite your friends to gather on the porch, in the yard, or down on the corner out in the street. Share a video on your favorite social media platform and use the hashtag #playmusicontheporchday.
The passion for music is powerful and universal. It doesn’t matter if you play an Oud, an Guitarrón, a Nyckelharpa, or a Guitar. When you pick up your instrument and start to play, the world disappears and you get lost in the sounds. Music ties us together like a thread through our hearts. Our skin is many colors but music is our blood, our bones, and our soul.
