Ellen presents silver screen classics, return of Western film series
The Ellen Theatre has plenty of big screen entertainment to keep you occupied in the coming weeks. Here’s a look at what’s happening downtown!
Saddle up for the fourth annual Summer Western Series featuring a collection of cowboy classics, sponsored by The Western Café of Bozeman. Welcome a visit from old friends Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, James Garner and more! All motion pictures screen at 7:30pm — Fridays through July 7th, then Wednesdays through August 30th. Upcoming titles include Rooster Cogburn on June 2nd, My Darling Clementine June 9th, Blazing Saddles June 16th, Man of the West June 23rd, and Support Your Local Gunfighter on June 30th.
The Ellen Saloon opens for refreshments at 6:30pm prior to all showings. Tickets are only $5, or lasso yourself a Pony Express Pass and save a buck on each movie! Giddy up and catch this Cowboy Train… Yee-haw!
Another FREE Family Movie is set for Saturday, June 3rd when Chitty Chitty Bang Bang screens at 7pm. The 1968 British musical adventure fantasy was written by Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes, and is loosely based on Ian Fleming’s novel Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car. The film stars Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes and Lionel Jeffries. Rated G, the film runs 145 minutes. No ticket needed. Just show up!
On Saturday, June 10th, join The Ellen for Dad’s pick The Great Escape ahead of Father’s Day. A 1963 American World War II epic, the film is based on an escape by British Commonwealth prisoners from a German POW camp. Starring Steve McQueen, James Garner and Richard Attenborough, the film screens at 7:30pm. All seats are $5.
Another installment of the Ellen Classics series screens on Saturday, June 17th with The Wizard of Oz. Travel “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with Judy Garland and visit the land of Oz. The film screens at 7:30pm and all seats are $5.
