Featuring a talented cast of student actors, Bozeman High School Hawks Theatre Company will present Betty Comden and Adolph Green’s classic musical comedy early this month. Singin’ in the Rain will be presented over six performances from November 1st–10th. Thursday and Friday shows will begin at 7pm, with a 2pm matinee on Sunday. All will be held in the BHS auditorium.
The Broadway classic dives deep into the glamorous world of old Hollywood as it transitions from silent film to full sound. This hilarious musical follows the story of Don Lockwood, a silent film star who falls for Kathy, a young actress on her way up. Complicating their love story is Don’s acting partner, the beautiful but ugly voiced Lina and the pressure for an old studio to create its first ‘talkie.’ The show is full of song, dance, comedy and romance!
Under the direction of Lila Michael with musical direction by Jacob Malczyk and choreography by Valarie Andrews, this play is suitable for all ages. General Singin’ in the Rain admission is $20 and $10 for students, available in advance at bsd7.revtrak.net (click “Drama” > “BHS Drama”). Tickets available at the box office as space allows. Box office will open an hour prior to each show, with doors thirty minutes before. For additional information, contact Hawks Theatre Co. at (406) 522-4855. •
