The Bozeman Doc Series returns October 13th to the Emerson Center for another season of brilliant, challenging documentaries from around the world.
In last year’s second season, the series showcased sixteen award-winning films, including twelve Montana premieres, award-winners from the Sundance, Venice and Cannes Film Festivals, and one film that would later be nominated for an Oscar. The Doc Series also began a partnership with the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula and screened nine of the top short documentary films from this year’s festival at a special event last spring.
The series presented films from eleven different countries and screened films in seven different languages focused on subjects ranging from the lives of Ukrainian shepherds in the Carpathian Mountains to a small town New Zealand rugby team to the works of Maya Angelou and Wendell Berry.
The Bozeman Doc Series is committed to bringing the most critically-acclaimed new documentary films from around the world to Bozeman. Most films are Montana premieres that have very recently world-premiered at major festivals, and upcoming films are often announced just weeks before the screening. Check the schedule at www.bozemandocseries.org/ or find them on Facebook for information about upcoming films.
This season, The Doc Series is happy to announce its films will now be screened in high-definition through a new state-of-the-art projector in the Emerson’s Crawford Theater. Also new this season, the Emerson Grill North will be open before and after all films, with ticket holders receiving a 10% discount on all purchases the night of the screenings.
