With excitement surrounding the Bobcat football program following the hiring of Jeff Choate in December, ROOT Sports has decided to jump on the bandwagon this fall, featuring five MSU football games during its weekly Big Sky Conference coverage for the 2016 season. With their five games, Montana State will lead the Big Sky Conference in appearances this season, followed by the University of Montana and Eastern Washington who will both appear four times.
Montana State’s first appearance on ROOT will be on October 8th, in a home contest versus the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. The October 8th game will begin a stretch of five appearances in six games to close out the 2016 regular season. The Bobcats’ lone game that does not air on ROOT during that time is a November 5th contest at Southern Utah University. MSU’s opponents for the remaining four appearances on ROOT are Weber State, Eastern Washington, UC Davis & the University of MT. The ‘Cats take on Weber State in Ogden on October 15th before returning home to face perennial Big Sky contender Eastern Washington on October 22nd. The ‘Cats earn their bye week October 29th before closing out the regular season on the road at Southern Utah (Nov. 5), at home versus UC Davis (Nov. 12) and in Missoula for the ‘Brawl of the Wild on November 19th. The Bobcats’ six other games will all be aired locally, and that television package will be announced sometime in May or June.
ROOT Sports’ coverage of the Big Sky Conference will begin on September 24th with a matchup featuring the Montana Grizzlies at the Cal Poly Mustangs. •
