Livingston’s Blue Slipper Theatre presents the third production of its new season with Tiny Beautiful Things this month. Performances are set for March 1st–3rd and 8th–10th. Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 8pm, with Sunday matinees to follow at 3pm.
Based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, Tiny Beautiful Things personifies the questions and answers that the pseudonymous “Sugar” published online from 2010-2012. When Strayed – a struggling writer – was asked to take over the unpaid position of advice columnist, she used empathy and her personal experience to help those seeking guidance for obstacles large and small. Tiny Beautiful Things is a play about reaching out when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken, and finding the courage to take on questions which have no answers.
The local production is presented under the direction of Katie Mangett in her directorial debut and features a talented cast of local actors and stage crew.
Please note: This production is intended for adult audiences. It contains strong language and descriptions of sexual assault, child abuse, and death/suicide that some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.
Tickets for Tiny Beautiful Things are $20 or $15 for students/seniors and are available at www.blueslipper.org. Seating at the Blue Slipper, located at 113 E Callender St, is limited. Please call (406) 222-7720 for more information. •
