The Montana State Parks Foundation and Missouri Headwaters State Park are inviting community members to take part in a Volunteer Cleanup Day on Friday, April 25th from 10am to 2pm, as part of the annual Gallatin Valley Give Big celebration.
Volunteers will spend the morning helping spruce up the park with light cleanup and improvement projects before gathering for lunch together at the picnic area. The event is designed to bring together local residents, park supporters, and visitors who want to give back to one of Montana’s most historic landscapes.
“Missouri Headwaters is a special place where people come to experience Montana’s history and natural beauty,” said Megan Buecking, Executive Director of the Montana State Parks Foundation. “This volunteer day is a great way for community members to spend time outdoors while helping care for a park that means so much to so many people.”

Participants are asked to bring work gloves, work clothes, and a water bottle. All other supplies will be provided.
Lunch will be provided for volunteers thanks to support from community partners including Montana Gift Corral, Big Sky Wind Drinkers, Three Forks Chamber of Commerce, and AmeriCorps Montana.
Whether someone is a regular park visitor, a nearby neighbor, or simply someone who loves Montana’s state parks, organizers say everyone is welcome to participate.
Volunteers will meet at the picnic area at Missouri Headwaters State Park (45.934467, -111.493350) at 10am.
Registration is required by April 11th so organizers can plan lunch and supplies. Participants can register at www.montanastateparksfoundation.org (click ‘Get Involved’ > ‘Volunteer Opportunities’). •
