The Montana Chamber Music Society celebrates its annual Montana Chamber Music Festival with local performances on July 23rd, 24th and 26th. The Monday performance will be held at Big Sky’s Wilson Hotel, followed by a Tuesday show at Livingston’s Shane Lalani Center for the Arts, then moving to Bozeman for a Friday program at Reynolds Recital Hall on the Montana State University campus. The Big Sky and Bozeman performances begin at 7pm, and 7:30pm in Bozeman.
This year’s program will center around Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring (Suite for 13 instruments) plus selections from Mark O’Connor’s Appalachia Waltz, Martinu’s 3 Madrigals for violin and viola, Arthur Foote’s Night Piece for flute and string quartet, Paul Schoenfield’s Café Music for piano trio, and Mikhail Glinka’s Trio Pathétique for piano, clarinet and bassoon.
Performers include Angella Ahn (violin), Jun-Ching Lin (violin), Jihye Sung (violin), Elizabeth York (violin), Chi-Chi Lin Bestmann (viola), Dana Rokosny (viola), Jessie Reagen (cello), Sara Stalnaker (cello), Josh Schwalbach (bass), Immanuel Davis (flute), Bil Jackson (clarinet), Ben Greanya (bassoon) and Michele Levin (piano).
The festival includes additional performances at 4pm on July 21st at St. Timothy’s Memorial Chapel in Georgetown Lake, a special “Young Artists Concert” at 7:30pm on July 22nd at Reynolds Recital Hall, a regular festival performance at 7pm on July 27th at St. Paul’s Church in Virginia City, and at 3pm on July 28th at Butte’s Immaculate Conception Church. Admission to all Montana Chamber Music Society performances is $35 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at www.montanachambermusicsociety.org.
