How to Teach Money Management to Your Children is set for Tuesday, October 18th from 12–1pm at the Willson School Building. Learning smart spending habits can have a profound impact on a young child’s life. The financial lessons children learn today will last well into adulthood. Join Kimberly Hartman, from MSU’s Health & Human Development Department and a Certified Financial Planner, to learn more about teaching your child how to spend and save.
Communicating with your Adolescent will close out the month on Thursday, October 27th from 12–1pm at the Willson School Building. Communication with your adolescent is one of the foundations of good parenting. As children become adolescents, they normally get more involved with peers and talk less to parents. Less communication with parents can be a normal part of establishing independence. Teenagers still want and need to communicate with their parents, feel close to their parents, and be able to turn to their parents when they have problems or when they need to talk. Laura St. John, Project Director SAFE-TI (School & Family Engagement–Trauma Informed) will provide some tips for how to establish good communication with your teenager.
More informative presentations like these will be held through December. Classes are free of charge. Visit www.bsd7.org/students_parents/parent_university/ for more information, to register, and for a complete list of upcoming courses. •
