THE BANDS: |

GREAT BEAR TRIO ANDREW VanNORSTRAND – fiddle/electric guitar This New England trio has lit up the dance world with driving, innovative music for over a decade. Unafraid to go wherever their creativity takes them, their unconventional approach entrances and motivates. Brothers Andrew and Noah and their mother Kim perform with an instinctive ease and comfort that contrasts nicely with the complexity and subtlety of their music. They’ve shared their uniquely rocking style at dances and festivals from the deep south to Alaska and coast to coast. This will be their first appearance in Montana since Bear Hug 2010, so come prepared to hear some new music and find out what all the excitement is about. Check them out in this very cool video: Great Bear Groove – Benton’s Hallucinations. More at their Web site: greatbearmusic.com

SWIFTCURRENT ED BOGGS – guitar/fiddle/mandolin/vocals This Celtic band from northwest Montana explores every corner of traditional music with a stage full of instruments and an adventurous spirit. Their influences range from Africa to the British Isles but their sound is all their own—lively dance music with a charming accent both exotic and familiar at once. They bring a deep well of dance experience along with their musical chops and promise some innovative workshop topics and music to stir both the feet and the soul. |

THE CALLER: |
|
SARAH VanNORSTRAND Sarah has been calling, organizing and teaching contra, square, and family/community dances for eight years. She has a clear and engaging teaching style and a great repertoire of dances to share. Instantly hooked from her first contra dance as a teen, Sarah’s lov eof the dance and her joy in sharing it with all who will is evident and infectious. Above all, her goal as a caller is to make sure the dancers are having as much fun as she is. When she’s not calling or dancing, she can usually be found in the garden or at work at Lucky Moon Farm CSA in Cazenovia, NY. Sarah’s Web site is: sarahcallsdances.com

“Play with the Bears” and Friends Saturday Workshops Saturday morning and early afternoon will be filled with a stimulating assortment of concurrently running workshops:
Expect to come away with something you didn’t know before, regardless of your experience coming in. |

Contra Dances are generally the 1st Friday and 3rd Saturday of each month (except January when we break for Wintergreen).
Most contra dances are held at the Bozeman Senior Center, located at 807 N. Tracy Ave. in Bozeman. This is a very nice community center on Bozeman’s north side that features a great (and spacious) wooden dance floor, a nice stage for the band, easy access, and plenty of parking.
