First up this new year, Aparna Nancherla fronts a night of stand-up on Sunday, January 5th. The laughs begin at 7:30pm.
Celebrated for her dry wit and unique blend of existential and absurd humor, the comedienne captivates audiences with her insightful take on life. Her comedy spans stand-up, television, film and podcasting, with roles on BoJack Horseman, Search Party, The Great North and The Standups. Her recent book, Unreliable Narrator, praised by Los Angeles Times as “achingly poignant,” showcases her distinctive comedic voice. Named one of “The 50 Funniest People Right Now” by Rolling Stone, Nancherla redefines modern comedy with sharp insight and a whimsical twist.

The historic tradition of mariachi music, with roots in cities like Guadalajara and Mexico City, has evolved to reach new heights in Chicago with this two-time Latin Grammy-nominated band. Composed of 14 talented musicians aged 18-32, they’re charting the course for a bicultural generation of mariachi artists across North America. Through heartfelt performances and unmatched virtuosity, Mariachi Herencia celebrates mariachi’s roots while pushing the boundaries of the genre for today’s audiences. Their music bridges past and future, creating an experience that is as innovative as it is authentic.
Late this month, The Aluminum Show captivates on Friday, January 31st. The imaginative modern showcase begins at 7:30pm.
Step into a world where aluminum tubes and foil come alive, transforming the stage into a mesmerizing playground of movement, dance and visual effects. The performance tells the story of an astronaut’s journey through a parallel universe made entirely of aluminum, blending cutting-edge technology and electrifying dance to create a performance that’s equal parts humor, wonder and innovation. Described as a “tour de force” that combines visual theater with movement, dance and humor, this family friendly performance offers something for everyone, from art enthusiasts to thrill-seekers.
