Wild Joe*s Coffee Spot in downtown Bozeman is a great place for a caffeine fix, but it also doubles as a live music venue for local artists and those passing through our not-so-little mountain town. There is an exciting upcoming show in February! The coffeehouse will host Marshall McLean and Bart Budwig on Friday, February 19th beginning at 7pm. Tickets to this show are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
The Marshall McLean Band was born out of the Northwest, and it carries with it the unique sound that is becoming distinct to this part of the country. The four-piece band, based out of Spokane, has brought forth a fresh idea–one can merge elements of thoughtful songwriting in folk, the driving force of rock, and the melodic accessibility of Americana and carve out a new genre: a kind of NW Americana Rock. One of Spokane’s favorite songwriters, McLean manages to write songs without pretension. He sets reflective moods and backs them up with a distinctive picking style that travels seamlessly from powered lead lines to dynamic rhythm. It is in the final output, however, where the Marshall McLean Band carves its most solid niche. The method in which acoustical elements are managed through filters and amps gives forth a clean, overdriven sound that blurs the line between genres. The band is unafraid, blending these styles, taking the best of both worlds and discarding the rest. Bart Budwig doesn’t write the big songs. He writes the songs about the places between the hills, in the draws and hidden canyons where truth is a little more in focus, stories can take their time gettin’ told, heartbreak is a place of deep reflection, and melodies don’t have to wear rhinestone suits or drive new, shiny, cars to be beautiful. Bart’s not afraid of working out of the spotlight. Wild Joe*s Coffee Spot is located in the heart of historic downtown Bozeman. Voted #1 coffeehouse in the Best of Bozeman 2014 and 2015, they’re also a Montana Eco Star recipient for sustainable business practices. Their aim is to serve the best coffee, espresso, and tea drinks in Montana–but they’re more than just that! With a capacity of 98 people, Wild Joe*s is also one of Bozeman’s most popular spots for eclectic live music. Wild Joe*s is located in downtown Bozeman on 18 West Main Street.
