The BoZone always supports going green, and the coming St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are no different!

The only thing not so lucky about this year’s holiday is its falling on a Sunday – but such an inconvenience won’t hold us back. Here’s a look at where you can catch some great live music on St. Paddy’s Eve, whether after a Run to the Pub or the usual Saturday errands.
Local piano man and guitarist Bob Britten brings a performance to the Kountry Korner Café beginning at 5:30pm. He studied classical guitar and attended Christopher Parkening’s master classes at MSU, having since played with various bands and as a solo performer for many years. Wild Joe*s Coffee Spot will host an Open Mic Night in Downtown Bozeman featuring an evening of music performed by local musicians at 6pm. Bring your guitar, sitar, zither, poetry, comedy, or theremin and take a turn up at the mic. Show the communtiy what you’re made of ! Sign-ups start at 5:30pm – first come, first served. Enjoy An Evening of Blues with the “Ambassador of ” Guy Davis at the Rialto. He’ll front back-to-back shows at 6pm and 9pm. With more than two decades of songwriting and performing under his belt, Davis credits artists like Blind Willie McTell, Big Bill Broonzy, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Babatunde Olatunji, Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry as influences. These are sure to be a pair of truly excellent performances! Tickets to these 18+ shows are $18.
Heather Lingle heads out to Norris Hot Springs with a poolside show at 7pm. The American roots writer’s music encompasses heartache and conquest that reflect the rugged independence of the West through good times and bad. Triumph always. She’s a soulful, rebellious, genuine Americana artist. Also at 7pm, Howard Beall & the Fake News play Red Tractor Pizza. Their music is groove-based, specifically pulling from the jazz, rock, and funk genres. They play a blend of original compositions, standards, and modern songs with the intent of creating fresh sounds while still respecting the heritage and language of those before them.
Presented by FroZen Monkey and ChickenJam West, the 11th Annual Funk Meltdown takes over the Filling Station at 7pm. Get down to live music by The Tiny Band and Funk Junkie in only your funkiest attire! Beer specials, prizes, a dance off, and plenty more! Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Doors at 6pm. Catch country rockers Bluebelly Junction at the Eagles Bar at 9pm. The group plays “rockabilly music” for their lively audiences. The high-energy band tends to veer away from slow jams, other than the occasional tune. With an arsenal of originals and personalized covers, the guys will keep you on your feet until last call.
Over the pass? Three Eyed Jack will be rocking Chico Saloon at 9pm. The Helena-based classic and country rock trio will be sure to elevate the festive spirit, so book your rooms and get the shamrock fest started a day early! Finally, out at Three Forks’ Sac Bar, Cabin Fever perform at 9pm. From Manhattan, the band plays a combination of original music, ‘70s rock, and a wide variety of dance tunes from Dwight-style country to Pink Floyd. This fivepiece- plus showcases strong vocal harmonies and a wide variety of instrumentals.
And if you’re looking for some live music on the day of St. Patrick’s, the Montana Old Time Fiddlers will bring an Old Time Fiddle Jam to Whitehall’s Mint Bar on Sunday, March 17th from 2–6pm. The afternoon is free and open to the public, lunch will be available, and dancing is encouraged. Guitar, mandolin, and banjo players are welcome to participate in the jam – and anyone can just come to hear some great old time fiddle music. It’ll be Saint Paddy’s Day, so expect to hear (or play) a few Irish tunes!
