What a fantastic season of outdoor live music it’s been at Pine Creek Lodge, with several additional chances to experience one last show at the Paradise Valley venue before fall settles in. Here’s a closer look at who’s performing this month.
Willie Watson takes up the mic September 3rd with opener Nathan Xander. The New York-born folk musician and singer/songwriter is celebrated for his soulful voice, masterful banjo and guitar playing, and deep roots in traditional American music. A founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show, Watson has built a celebrated solo career preserving and reimagining the sounds of old-time folk, blues and Americana.
Fleetwood Mac tribute Tell Me Lies performs Sept. 5th with support from Quenby. With an unwavering commitment to authenticity and a deep respect for their craft, Tell Me Lies meticulously recreates the beloved sounds and visuals of one of the world’s most adored best-selling bands. Expect a full evening of their timeless hits.
Back for another Lodge residency are the Kitchen Dwellers with shows from Sept. 10th–13th. The band continues to carve out their own lane in the world of progressive roots music, blending bluegrass, folk, and psychedelic grit into a sound as expansive as their Montana home. Their catalog pairs instrumental virtuosity with emotional storytelling, an exploratory spirit, and a deep connection to the American West. Rooted in sweeping landscapes and natural contrasts, their newest release, The Katabatic EP blends mythic lyricism, atmospheric instrumental interplay, and a progressive blend of bluegrass, folk and Americana.
STiLGONE entertain on Sept. 18th with openers Hot Milk & the Flower Pallets. The band plays a unique fusion of genres, spanning funk, soul, hip-hop, reggae, psychedelic rock and more. While covering so many styles they manage to create a cohesive sound that is uniquely their own, one they have dubbed “intergalactic dirtbag soul.” Their live shows are an immersive trip through detailed soundscapes, danceable grooves and the lyrics of songwriter and guitarist Symon Palmer. Their new album, A La Mode, is available now.
Industry vet Jorma Kaukonen visits Southwest Montana on Sept. 25th. In a career that has already spanned a half-century, he has been one of the most highly respected interpreters of American roots music, blues and rock. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy recipient, Jorma was at the forefront of popular rock n’ roll, one of the founders of the San Francisco sound and a progenitor of psychedelic rock. He is a founding member of two legendary bands, Jefferson Airplane and the still-touring Hot Tuna. He is a music legend and one of the finest singer/songwriters in his field.
Cullen Brothers Band warm up the crowd for Jampoke on Sept. 26th. The folk-rock band performs with a heavy jam influence, playing a mix of soulful folk tunes, and more instrumental, high-energy jam rock. Born out of dorms of MSU, Jampoke’s sound is a unique blend of singer-songwriter lyricism with jam-style instrumental soloing.
Lena Marie Schiffer returns with a Chloe Gendrow-opened show on October 1st. She is a folk singer and songwriter known for her decade-long journey with bluegrass group, Laney Lou & the Bird Dogs. Driven by a distinctive fusion of folk, indie, and Americana influences, Schiffer writes original lyrics that offer deeply personal reflections and insightful observations of the world. Her debut album, House of Sky, is available now.
The aptly named Red NOT Chili Peppers take the stage Oct. 3rd. Combining nostalgic hits, full throttle energy, and virtuosic performances, the Red Nots channel the raging party that has given the Chili Peppers international acclaim and regal rock n’ roll status. Having performed at many of the country’s most prestigious concert halls as well as every major tribute festival, the Red Nots’ undying devotion to the classic California sound has filled venues and rocked audiences’ socks off all over the country and abroad. With a huge song catalog that spans every era of the Chili’s prolific career at their command, every Red Nots show provides a unique live music experience.
Los Angeles project Wolves of Glendale are set for Oct. 4th. The hilarious comedy-rock trio delivers infectious songs, sharp wit and wildly entertaining live shows. Expect clever lyrics, big hooks and plenty of laughs from this rising musical comedy act.
