The Arts Council of Big Sky caps another great season with its off-shoot to this summer’s ‘Music in the Mountains’ lineup. On Thursday, September 3rd, settle in for the return of Metal in the Mountains, an end-of-summer festival featuring a pair of lively heavy metal bands. The event includes all-female tribute The Iron Maidens as the headliner, with support from Big Sky’s own Scavenger. Music starts at 6:30pm in Len Hill Park.
Formed in the early aughts, the Maidens have quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with among the national tribute band scene. The band boasts beauty as well as excellent musicianship, lively stage presence, and a remarkable stage show with theatrical scenes interspersed throughout.
The band members are highly trained professionals with diversified musical backgrounds ranging from orchestral and musical theater to blues and rock. They cover Iron Maiden material from all eras of the band’s career, encompassing the band’s biggest hits as well as fan favorites. The stage show includes appearances by Maiden mascot Eddie, the grimreaper, the devil and more.
Riff-heavy metal band Scavenger has played hundred of shows at venues around Montana and beyond, showcasing their original material. Enjoy cuts from the quartet’s album releases, Cliff Manor and Feral. The band members – which include Timmy Bowers (drums/vocals), Ben Blodgett (bass/vocals), Joey Mathis (guitar), and Brent Philippi (guitar/vocals) – have been part of the Big Sky community for decades.
