The Montana State University School of Music’s University Band, featuring MSU trumpet professor Sarah Stoneback, and brass ensembles will perform a free public concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, in Reynolds Recital Hall.
Stoneback will perform Herbert L. Clarke’s “Carnival of Venice.” She is a member of the internationally recognized Stoneback Sisters: Triplet Trumpet Trio, made up of Stoneback and her two identical sisters. Stoneback also performs with trumpet quartets and brass quintets, as well as the German-based brass ensemble Eurobrass, with whom she will be touring Europe this summer. As a member of the Flatirons Brass, she has competed in national competitions and world tours and, in 2009, won the bronze medal in the Fischoff National Chamber Music competition. The group has also been artist-in-residence at the Renmin University of China in Beijing. In addition, Stoneback has played as soloist with numerous bands and orchestras throughout the U.S., including the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Pops, the John Philip Sousa Band and the United States Air Force Band of the West.
The concert will also feature the Bridger Brass Quintet, made up of MSU School of Music students, and the school’s trumpet and low brass ensembles on the first half of the program.
Reynolds Recital Hall is located in Howard Hall, across the street from the MSU Duck Pond.
