The Lockhorn Cider House isn’t only a spot to satisfy your craving for all-natural, gleuten-free hard ciders and a variety of food options of the highest quality. Lockhorn also boasts an impressive roster of live music throughout the month and hosts other events as well. Lockhorn will be holding a fundraiser, Pints for Peace, on behalf of the Central Asia Institute this January. P4P will contribute the CAI’s fundraising campaign “Pennies for Peace”.
The Pennies for Peace program encourages students to learn about their Central Asian counterparts, while raising funds to help them get an education. CAI promotes cross-cultural understanding around the world and campaigns to keep education in the public eye at home and abroad.” Community members are encouraged to bring in a penny jar in exchange for a pint of cider throughout the month. Kids can exchange their pennies for a non-alcoholic cider as well. The contents of each penny jar will be poured into a six-gallon glass carboy (a glass container used to ferment test batches of cider), and donated to the Pennies for Peace program at the end of the month.
Lockhorn will match the community’s contributions up to $1000. The fundraiser will coincide with a photographic display by the Central Asia Institute, beginning on January 4th. A reception, slideshow, and fundraising evening will be held at the cider house on January 17th from 7-9pm. Lokhorn will also host Open Mic with Eric Bartz on Tuesdays, January 19th and 26th at 7pm.
