Local youth will front Arthur Miller’s chilling parable appropriate for the season. Featuring a talented cast of student actors, Bozeman High School Hawks Theatre Company will present The Crucible in a special black box setting. It will be presented over six performances from October 30th through November 8th with evening shows and matinees. Directed by Lila Michael, all will be held in the BHS auditorium.
In the deeply religious and tightly controlled community of Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692, a group of young girls are discovered dancing in the woods and soon fall mysteriously ill. With no reasonable explanation for their behavior, the townspeople begin to suspect witchcraft, setting off a chain of accusations that quickly spirals out of control. As personal vendettas surface, private secrets become public scandals, and truth grows indistinguishable from deception, the pursuit of justice gives way to fear, hysteria and revenge. In a town consumed by the need to expose evil, suspicion becomes its own destructive force, leaving no one beyond reproach and no one truly safe.

Arthur Miller’s landmark 1953 drama, The Crucible, remains a powerful examination of mass hysteria, moral conviction, and the devastating consequences of unchecked accusations. More than a historical account of the Salem witch trials, it serves as a timeless warning about what happens when fear overrides reason and a community turns against itself.
The play is suitable for all ages but includes supernatural themes and brief strong language. General admission for The Crucible is $15, available in advance HERE. Seating is limited. Tickets available at the box office as space allows. For additional information, contact Hawks Theatre Co. at (406) 522-4855. •
