The Montana Folk Festival is reaching out to invite volunteers to consider making this year’s ninth festival a part of their summer plans.
Festival organizers are recruiting new volunteers for the 2016 Montana Folk Festival on July 8, 9 & 10 and updating their database for returning volunteers, too.
“During the festival, specific areas where we need help include Backstage Hospitality, CD/Merchandise Sales, Beverage Ticket Sales and Beverage Servers,” said Volunteer Coordinator Brad Rixford.
“We are really interested too in hearing from younger folks who want to get involved, who want to help with the heavy (and not-so heavy) lifting on the Operations side,” said Bernie Shelton, Festival Technical Director. “Setting chairs for the audiences at the tented venues, helping to build things on the fly, setting it up and helping to take it down, there are a variety of chores involved that take many hands to complete and we really could use the help.”
The advantage of putting in volunteer time on the Operations crew too is that a shift can be scheduled before and after the event and then have plenty of time to watch the festival unfold during the weekend.
“This year we are looking for skilled equipment operators who want to help with their skills moving things around for the setup and the tear down,” said Festival Director George Everett.. “If you know how to operate a forklift and you are a certified operator we would love to hear from you to help for a few hours,” added Everett.
If any of these various volunteer roles sound interesting, visit the festival web site for more details at http://montanafolkfestival.com/pages/forms-applications/volunteer.php. While there you can also find a link to an online database to sign up or print out a form that can be mailed in, if you prefer.
For those new to this volunteer opportunity, shifts can be as little as four hours although several volunteers often decide to stay longer if they are having fun. Volunteers signed up for shifts get a free T-shirt and a chance to see the festival unfold from a unique perspective — from the inside.
