Montana’s largest independent bookstore since 1957—The Country Bookshelf in Downtown Bozeman—has an exciting slate of upcoming events for bookworms and literature enthusiasts alike.
An Author Event with Elisa Lorello for The Second First Time will be held Wednesday, December 7th at 7pm. The description is as follows: “Novelists Jonathan Moss and Sage Merriweather should be a perfect match. They share not only the same publisher but also a deep friendship full of mutual respect and encouragement. But when an ill-fated attempt at taking their relationship to the next level fails in spectacular fashion, it appears as though that once-treasured bond is doomed for good. One year later, however, the duo gets a chance to salvage their relationship when Jonathan invites Sage on a do-over road trip from Phoenix to Tacoma—the same trip that ended before it began the year before. Reeling from the sudden death of her estranged father, Sage finally agrees, and the two embark on a journey that will change their lives forever. As the pair moves ever closer to the truth about their feelings, both Jonathan and Sage have to decide what they really mean to each other…or risk losing it all.”
Elisa Lorello is a Long Island native, the youngest of seven children. In 2012 she became a full-time novelist. Elisa is the author of seven novels, including the bestselling Faking It, and one memoir. She continues to speak and write about her publishing experience and also teaches the craft of writing and revision. She moved to Montana in 2016 and is newly married.
An Author Event with Patrik Hill for Downtown Noir will follow on Friday, December 9th at 6pm, during the Downtown Art Walk. A gritty and stylish thriller, Downtown Noir follows a writer who is pulled into a world of intrigue and murder, where the lines of fact and fiction become quickly blurred. Stories of kidnap, torture, drugs, and muder for hire pull our character deeper under until he can no longer remain the objective storyteller and threatens to become part of the story himself.
Patrik Hill has also authored an essay and poetry collection, The Five Aces of Israel: reshuffled. A self-described adventure geek, he has traveled all over North America, Puerto Rico, and the Cayman Islands, exploring mountain trails, backcountry lakes, jungle canopies, and ocean reefs. A certified scuba diver, Patrik is as at home on land as he is beneath the water. Patrik has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Montana State University emphasizing Criminal Justice. Patrik currently lives in Bozeman, Montana with his family, and is working on his next novels.
An Author Event with Zach Bean for Man on Fire will take place on Saturday, December 10th at 3pm. Author Chitra Divakaruni said, “Zack Bean has put together here a wonderful and memorable collection of stories. I was surprised and delighted by the unusual landscape, sometimes lush, sometimes stark, often full of secrets and always peopled by ‘bad boys’ of one kind or another. Bean’s masterful and original use of language throughout the book is an additional delight.”
Zack Bean is the author of the collection of stories, Man on Fire. His stories have appeared in Fiction, Cream City Review, Pank, Best Small Fictions 2015, and other literary publications. He holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing and Literature from The University of Houston, and is an Assistant Professor of English at Montana State University.
The Country Bookshelf is located at 28 West Main Street downtown. All events are free and open to the public. For more information about the store or these events, visit www.countrybookshelf.com/ or call (406) 587-0166. •
