Unveiling the next in its 2024 performance series, Montana Chamber Music Society will present the talents of the Dover Quartet on Friday, November 1st. The concert will be held at Reynolds Recital Hall on the Montana State University campus. Music begins at 7:30pm.
Named one of the greatest string quartets of the last 100 years by BBC Music Magazine and “the next Guarneri Quartet” by the Chicago Tribune, the two-time Grammy-nominated Dover Quartet is one of the world’s most in-demand chamber ensembles.
Their celebrated recordings include its highly acclaimed three-volume recording, Beethoven Complete String Quartets, which was hailed as “meticulously balanced, technically clean-as-a-whistle and intonationally immaculate” (The Strad), and The Schumann Quartets.
The Penelope P. Watkins Ensemble in Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music and Quartet in Residence at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where the quartet formed in 2008, their name pays tribute to Dover Beach by fellow Curtis alumnus Samuel Barber.
The quartet’s regional tour will include a 7pm concert at Two Rivers Gallery in Big Timber on Oct. 30th and “An Intimate Evening of Music & Conversations” at Bozeman’s Old Main Gallery on Oct. 31st at 6:30pm. Find ticketing information for these performances through the host website.
Admission to all regular Montana Chamber Music Society performances is $35 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at www.montanachambermusicsociety.org. These are also available at the door, depending on availability. Net proceeds from these programs support MCMS’s mission to present great chamber music performances throughout Montana year-round. •
