Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre invites audiences to return for its much-loved holiday production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Performances will begin December 8th and run through Dec. 22nd. Tickets are on sale now.
Warm up the winter chill with this Ellen tradition as we meet Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and that irascible misguided miser Ebenezer Scrooge, played by veteran actor and local favorite John Hosking. Witness firsthand as Scrooge is haunted by Jacob Marley, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. But will seeing these visions be enough to change his ways? Take a trip to 19th Century London to find out. You’re sure to chase away the holiday humbug with this Montana TheatreWorks production, a timeless tale magically brought to life on the storied downtown stage.
First performed at The Ellen in 2008, this family friendly, whimsical take on the Dickens tale is sure to put all in the holiday spirit. There’s nothing quite like live theatre, and it’s sure to be a Christmas to remember with this Charles Dickens classic. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the spirit of the season and a great present for the entire family.
Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is presented by Montana TheatreWorks, producers of Oklahoma!, Annie, Damn Yankees, White Christmas, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof and most recently, You Can’t Take It with You.
A note to parents: This is a faithful adaptation of the book, which includes visits from four ghosts. Although it is all make-believe, some young children may be frightened by the darker, spooky and supernatural aspects of this play.
Numerous performances of A Christmas Carol will be held Dec. 8th–22nd with evening shows and weekend matinees. Tickets to this holiday production range $19 to $35 (plus fees).
Wine, beer and concessions will be sold in the lobby one hour before each event. Ticketing and further information about these performances and upcoming events is available at www.theellentheatre.org. For additional inquiries, call the box office at (406) 585-5885. •
