Come join Bozeman’s thriving social dance community or learn to dance with your partner in anticipation of date nights, weddings, and nights at local taverns. This summer, Dance Kinexion and the Montana Movement Arts Center are offering professional dance classes and private lessons in Country, Ballroom, Swing, not to mention fun drop-in lessons in Salsa, Swing, and Tango. Whether you’re jumping in for the first time as beginning dancer or need to refresh and enhance your skills, dance lessons are the best way to grow your confidence. Learn new moves or re-ignite the spark for this fun hobby.
The unique Country Dance Bootcamp and Ballroom and Swing Bootcamp social dance series enables anyone to learn essentials of body movement, partnering, rhythm, and turns in just two to four evening sessions. Learn to twirl this August or September with a partner in popular styles such as the upbeat and most popular country styles of Country Two-Step, Country Swing (Jitterbug) or the super-versatile East Coast Swing, and classic smooth styles such as Foxtrot and Waltz for flowing gracefully down the dance floor. A special Night Club Two – Step Bootcamp in August focuses on those romantic, slower songs popular for first dances at weddings and versatile moves for many of today’s country and pop ballads. In every class, you’ll learn fast and have a blast discovering the joy of dancing with a partner to your favorite music styles and how to adapt it to different venues. Classes are open to couples and singles of all ages. You can choose to stay with your significant other or join the partner rotation and meet other dancers. Intermediate and advanced classes on Tuesdays include Night Club Two-Step, Country Waltz, and West Coast Swing. The cost for most courses is $40 per person, with student discounts available. They include four hours of instruction over either 3–4 weeks, or intensive two-night workshops offered throughout the year. If your schedule is unpredictable, custom private classes are available for couples, groups, wedding parties, families, or individuals starting at only $20 per person. Find a time that works for you and like-minded friends and let your inner dancers bloom! There is also plenty of opportunity to drop into classes around town with Dance Kinexion and various dance clubs. Weekly events include Country and Line dancing on Thursdays at 7:30pm at Mixers Club, latin dancing with Sizzling Salsa on Wednesday evenings at 8pm and Argentine Tango with Bozeman Tango on Tuesdays at 8pm at The MAC, and the smooth and sophisticated West Coast Swing on second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 8pm at Townshend’s Tea House.
