Scaling New Heights w/ Mountain Goat Expert Bruce Smith
April 2 @ 6:00pm
Come for the goats, stay for the stories!
Of all North America’s large mammals, one reigns supreme in the high-alpine wilds — living higher, steeper, and more remote than any other. The mountain goat, nature’s ultimate mountaineer, takes center stage in an evening of adventure, science, and stunning photography with Montana wildlife biologist and award-winning photographer Bruce Smith.
Tuesday, April 2, 6–7 p.m.
Bozeman Public Library Community Room
Free and open to all!
Join Wild Montana’s Madison-Gallatin Chapter of Wild Montana for a fascinating deep dive into the world of Montana’s most elusive ungulate. Bruce will take us into the rugged landscapes these incredible animals call home, sharing insights into their natural history, behavior, and extreme alpine lifestyle.
Then, we’ll shift gears to explore the results of a statewide status review of Montana’s mountain goats—revealing the surprising differences between native and introduced populations and the conservation challenges ahead.
Bruce’s presentation will be brought to life with breathtaking images from his award-winning book, Life on the Rocks: A Portrait of the American Mountain Goat, which won the National Outdoor Book Award.
