GYC Spring Forward webinar series: How to Halt a Gold Mine in Idaho
April 10 @ 4:00pm
Spring in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem can mean bright and sunny one day and a blizzard the next. You never quite know what’s in store for a day out exploring as your backpack is laden with every jacket imaginable. Here at the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, another reason to anticipate spring is the return of our Spring Forward webinar series, where we share some of the amazing work our staff is doing across the region. This year is no different and we have a great lineup for you.
How to Halt a Gold Mine in Idaho: The Kilgore Project’s Cyanide Threat Thursday, April 10 | 4 – 5 p.m. MT
Nestled in a quiet corner of Idaho, just 60 miles west of Yellowstone National Park, sits a looming threat to clean drinking water, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities. A financially unstable Canadian mining company with a track record of empty promises wants to build an open-pit, heap-leach, cyanide gold mine in the foothills of this extraordinary landscape. This is the Kilgore Gold Exploration Project—and it must be stopped. We’ve been fighting the Kilgore Project since 2018 and this ever-evolving battle is now entering the public arena.
Join GYC’s Tom Hallberg to learn more about how GYC and the local coalition plan to halt this risky gold mining project and how you can help.
