Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre will present a pair of upcoming film screenings of the classic and family favorite variety this month. Gather friends and loved ones for some popcorn and the following endearing titles.
Grab your best umbrella, polish your chimney sweep attire and get ready to celebrate 60 years of Mary Poppins on Friday, January 19th at 7:30pm.
When Jane (Karen Dotrice) and Michael (Matthew Garber), the children of the wealthy and uptight Banks family, are faced with the prospect of a new nanny, they are pleasantly surprised by the arrival of the magical Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews). Embarking on a series of fantastical adventures with Mary and her cockney performer friend, Bert (Dick Van Dyke), the siblings try to pass on some of their nanny’s sunny attitude to their preoccupied parents (David Tomlinson, Glynis Johns). All seats are $9.
Gremlins hits the big screen on Saturday, January 20th at 7:30pm.
This 1984 cult classic is a hilariously dark and surprisingly heartfelt blend of holiday cheer and creature chaos. Join Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) as he receives the adorable Mogwai Gizmo as a Christmas gift. But beware, Gizmo has three important rules: never get him wet, don’t expose him to sunlight, and never feed him after midnight. Unleash the mayhem! Watch as Gizmo spawns a whole gremlin army, transforming from cute and cuddly to vicious and vindictive. These devilish little furballs wreak havoc on the quaint town of Kingston Falls, tearing through Christmas decorations, electrocuting carolers, and throwing everything into gremlin-induced pandemonium. All seats are $9.
Wine, beer and concessions will be sold in the lobby one hour before each event. Ticketing and further information about these and other upcoming happenings is available at www.theellentheatre.org. For additional inquiries, call the box office at (406) 585-5885. •
