The Ellen Theatre in Downtown Bozeman is not only your source for some of the area’s best stage performances. It also houses some of the best musical acts to come through town. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in January. Energetic quartet Brooklyn Rider is set to perform Saturday, January 16th at 8pm. Hailed as the future of chamber music, the game-changing and captivating string quartet presents an extensive repertoire and gripping performances that continue to draw rave reviews from classical, world, and rock critics alike. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “They are four classical musicians performing with the energy of young rock stars jamming on their guitars, a Beethoven-goes-indie foray into making classical music accessible but also celebrating why it was good in the first place.”
Tickets for this concert are $29.50 and are available online at theellentheatre.com. Youth 17 and under and Upper Balcony seating is only $14. Wine, beer and other refreshments, which may be brought into the theatre, will be served in the lobby beginning at 7pm, with the music starting at 8pm.
Claire Lynch Band will return to the stage Saturday, January 23rd at 8pm for a night of terrific bluegrass and western swing. For decades, Claire Lynch has been one of the most progressive envelope-pushers in the field, first as the lead singer of the Front Porch String Band, then as a session vocalist and songwriter working with luminaries like Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, and now in her solo career. Named Female Vocalist of the Year three times, Lynch certainly has earned her place among the great artists of contemporary folk, Bluegrass, and Americana. In fact, Dolly Parton says of the two-time Grammy nominee, “She has one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business today.”
Please note that Claire Lynch has sold out every trip to The Ellen thus far, so be sure to secure tickets early. Reserved seats are $19.75 and may be purchased at theellentheatre.com. Beer, wine, and other refreshments will be available in the lobby at 7pm, with the music scheduled for 8pm.
