In collaboration with Verge Theater’s April storytelling event, “Tales from the Verge: Playing the Fool,” Community Art Bozeman will host a sneak preview of a story-related art exhibit. The art show features works by 28 local artists who were invited to create works on the theme, “Three Story Houses.”
Verge will host a community art openhouse from 5-7 pm on Saturday, April 9 so the public can view the works at no charge. Some of the works are for sale, with many artists donating all or part of proceeds to local community causes. The works will also be displayed at the Verge Theater throughout “Tales from the Verge” performances April 8- 9.
The idea of storytelling as a thread that can connect divergent art styles was the impetus behind the show, according to organizer Marla Goodman. After the Verge preview, Community Art Bozeman will feature selections from the Three Story Houses series at non-traditional art venues including assisted living communities and public spaces.
The artists featured include Kelly Bellcour, Duncan Bullock, Tina DeWeese, Tara Gallagher, Anne Garner, Max Giles, Sharon Glick, Marla Goodman, Birdie Hall, Alvin Huntsman, Terry Karson, Kate Lyndsay, Cristina Marian, Kenda Minter, Stephanie Newman, Shawn Raecke, Selisa Rausch, Tina Rodriguez, Raina Rowberry, Jack Schwem, Joe Schwem, Jocelyn Stoody, Tom Thornton, Tyson Vick, Mike Weix, Carmel Wood and Angela Yonke.
