The 10th Annual Get Lucky Cup Women’s Tournament takes place this weekend in Bozeman
(Bozeman, MT – Bozeman Amateur Hockey Association)
The Bozeman Amateur Hockey Association (BAHA) is host to Get Lucky Cup, March 11-13 at Haynes Pavilion. The tournament is organized by Bozeman Weasels Women’s hockey, and welcomes seven teams from Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.
“We are proud to celebrate 10 years of Get Lucky Cup.” Says tournament co-coordinator, Julie Keck, “I have been involved in planning since the inaugural tourney and it has been fun to see the tournament grow, but still keep its original purpose: to celebrate women’s hockey in Montana.”
BAHA currently has over 70 women, ages 19 to 64, registered in various hockey leagues and programs. Skill levels range from those who had previously never worn ice-skates to former college players. More than 40 of these players will participate on four teams in Get Lucky Cup.
Keck is also the Operations Director of BAHA, which manages the Haynes Pavilion Ice Arena. The month of February marks the beginning of ‘tournament season’ at the rink. So far in 2016 the rink has been host to the 16th Annual Winter Classic adult tournament, and two youth state tournaments. In addition to Get Lucky Cup and April’s MT Senior Olympics, Haynes will host Junior A Icedogs playoff games.
Keck adds, “We are nearing the end of ice season, since we shut down the rink at the end of April. It is important to us to accommodate all of our user-groups, honor standing tournaments and leagues, and be able to schedule additional events, like the Icedogs playoff games, as well as our first curling bonspiel.”
Get Lucky Cup games start on Friday night, with the championship game scheduled for noon on Sunday. Throughout the weekend the Weasels Hockey team holds a large raffle. Food and drink from Bar 3 BBQ and local breweries will be available onsite. All games are free and open to the public.
