In this weekend retreat led by visiting teachers Kamala Masters and Bonnie Duran, we will focus on cultivating a quality of conscious presence that embraces our heart, mind and body with compassion and wisdom. The time we have together will be used wisely… learning and practicing how awareness can open to the joys and sorrows of life. In doing so, we are confident of an ever-increasing sensitivity, stability and kindness—within ourselves, and in relationship to all of life around us. The retreat begins with a talk Friday night from 7-9pm, continues Saturday from 9:30am-5:00pm, and concludes on Sunday from 9:30am-1:00pm.
Since the early nineties, Kamala Masters has been teaching in the United States and abroad, and is a Guiding Teacher and member of the Board of Directors at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. In 1995 she co-founded Vipassana Metta Foundation with Steve Armstrong, developing the Maui Dhamma Sanctuary for self-reliant students to practice.
Bonnie Duran is one of founders of The People of Color Sangha in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in Seattle Washington. She is currently a core teacher of the IMS teacher training program and the SRMC Dedicated Practitioners Program. Dr. Duran is a Professor of Social Work and Public Health at the University of Washington in Seattle. Bonnie is also involved in Native American spiritual practices and traditions.
